A Skincare Breakthrough With No Needles

For many women, the point of skincare is to keep visible signs of aging at bay for as long as possible — and with it, surgery and other invasive treatments. Whether out of fear, finances or pride, staying out of the plastic surgeon’s office is a common goal. So when a product comes along that delivers benefits rivaling that of a serious procedure, I can’t wait to share the news with my clients. And today is one of those lucky days!

The magic of hyaluronic acid – your new best friend in anti-aging!

You may have heard of the powerhouse skincare ingredient hyaluronic acid. It’s actually a naturally occurring substance in your body that carries nutrients to your skin, keeping it hydrated, supple and contoured. With age, sun exposure and pollution, our body’s production of hyaluronic acid slows down and less of it gets stored, leaving behind deepened lines and sagging, crepey skin.

Hyaluronic acid has become an increasingly common ingredient in many excellent anti-aging serums and moisturizers because it can hold up to 1,000 times its own weight in water (it even draws water from the air for continuous hydration throughout the day). While these products can be amazingly effective at moisturizing and filling in lines, you’d have to get an injectable filler of hyaluronic acid, like Juvéderm or Restylane, to fully plump laugh lines or add serious volume back to the face. That’s because hyaluronic acid molecules are large, so they stay on the skin’s surface or, at best, penetrate the top layer. Until now, that is! A few select skincare companies have formulated hyaluronic acid in a way that not only moisturizes skin, but penetrates so deeply and effectively, the results rival that of a filler!
